  1. Dr Abedinego Bayne Kolwani Chigwada is the President and founding member of the Zimbabwe Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (ZIOSH). He holds a PhD in Operational Risk Management, BSc in Environmental Science, MSc in Strategic Management, National Diploma in Mining Engineering, Certificates in Enterprise Wide Risk Management, Accounting, SHATCOR 1 & 2, Lead Auditors Course in Quality Management Systems ISO9001, OSHAS 18001 and ISO 14001. Abedinego is a seasoned Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) practitioner with close to 20 years in the field. He has been the Risk, Safety, Health and Environmental Compliance Manager in the mining industry for more than 10 years, six years experience as Technical/Lecturer in the Mining industry and three years as internal auditor Accounting National Railways of Zimbabwe. He is currently the Group Risk Manager for Zimplats responsible for ensuring that the Group mining concern operates according to best risk management practices. Mr Chigwada is a Member of the Institute of Risk Management South Africa, a member of the technical committee for the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSDZ) and a councilor for the tripartite Zimbabwe Occupational Safety and Health Council (ZOSHC). He is a Fellow member of ZIOSH.

 


  1. Benjamin Mutetwa is the Secretary and founding member of ZIOSH and holds a BSc in Chemistry and Biochemistry (UZ), MSc in Analytical Chemistry (UZ), Masters in Public Health – Occupational Hygiene (Wits, SA) and MSc in Strategic Management (CUT). He also holds a City and Guilds Quality Assurance Certificate with the City and Guilds of London Institute (U.K) and a certificate in OSHAS 18001. He is a Fellow member of ZIOSH. Benjamin is an occupational safety and health (OSH) practitioner with well developed expertise and skills in, and a passion for occupational accidents prevention strategies, and has more than 13 years experience dealing with OSH issues, providing strategic leadership and direction to OSH management at enterprise and national level. He has worked as an analytical chemist dealing with water and food quality with a leading analytical laboratory in the country. He is part of the management team spearheading research within the Division of Occupational Safety and Health at National Social Security Authority (NSSA).

 


  1. Sithembiso Maseko is the Treasurer and founding member of ZIOSH and is an Occupational Health Practitoner for over 17 years with a wealth of experience. She is a registered General Nurse with a BA Nursing Degree (UNISA), Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) from (NUST), Occupational Nursing Diploma (UNISA), Diplomas in Community Nursing and Midwifery, SHATCOR 1&2 (NSSA), Systemic Counseling (Connect) and Management Development Programme (MDP) Mandel Training Centre. She is also the past President of Zimbabwe Occupational Health Nurses Association (ZOHNA) which she successfully provided leadership for 3 years. Sithembiso is a passionate researcher and trainer in the fields of Occupational Health, HIV and AIDS. She has successfully started and implemented various occupational health programmes from inception. Sithembiso is currently working as an HIV and AIDS Coordinator for the large diversified group, Delta Beverages, has attended several national and regional Occupational Health seminars and conferences. She is a Fellow member of ZIOSH.

 


  1. Dr Reginald Dennis Gwisai is an environmental health/pollution/quality management scientist with current teaching, research, extension and consultancy interests in waste management and pollution control, water, air and soil pollution, water resources development and management, safety health and environmental issues (law, risk and auditing) wastewater issues, and the impacts of point pollution sources (e.g. mines, smelters, farms and landfills) on both the environment and human health. Furthermore he has conducted EIAs and Environmental Management Plans in the mining, agriculture and waste management industries. Dr Gwisai is a Researcher and Academic at Bindura University of Science Education in the Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Science which houses the Department of Environmental Science where he is a member of staff in the programme Safety Health and Environmental Manaalfrealfregement and supervises post graduate and undergraduate research, an Associate Consultant with ELWAS Consultancy Private Limited (Zimbabwe), Professional Associate to Geoflux Botswana Private Limited (Botswana), Principal Advisor to HE Consultancy (Zimbabwe), and Principal Technical Advisor for CSR International (Zimbabwe).  He is currently teaching the following courses; Environmental Impact Assessment; Principles of Industrial Processes; Food Safety and Meat Hygiene, Safety and Health Law I; Waste Water Treatment; Industrial and Labour Relations; Human Anatomy and Physiology, Introduction to Environmental Quality Management; Industrial Epidemiology and Safety Health; Environmental Management Systems and Environmental Auditing. Dr Gwisai is a member of the following professional bodies Zimbabwe Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (MSZIOSH) and serves in the Executive Committee, Environmental Professional Council of Zimbabwe (EPCOZ) and Health Professions Council (HPC). Dr Gwisai is a member of several University wide committees and the Environmental Science Department research cluster. He holds the following academic qualifications; BSc. Environmental Health (Solusi University), MSc. Environmental Science (University of Botswana), PhD. Environmental Science (University of Botswana).

 


  1. Mr Alfred Chinyere is a committee member of the Zimbabwe Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (ZIOSH). He holds a Masters in Executive Business Management, BSc Hons in Applied Environmental Science, SHATCO 1 and 2, Lead Auditors Course in Quality Management Systems ISO 9001, OSHAS 18001 and ISO 14001.  Alfred is a seasoned practitioner with 13 years in the field of SHEQ.  He is currently the Group SHEQ Manager at Metallon Corporation responsible for development of SHEQ strategies and ensuring their implementation at Metallon Business Units.  Alfred is also a member of the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSDZ).

 


  1. Polite Mthombeni is Vice President of the Institute and the current SHEQ Manager at Zuva Petroleum (Pvt) Ltd.
